Its Thursday and were almost to the weekend! Really loving the warm weather outside and just being able to start doing summer things. Im excited for everything that is going on in my life and am just counting down the days until I get to go see Wiz Khalifia, J Cole, and Florence and the Machine. Its going to be a tough month school wise and there is a lot of stuff I need to sit down and complete but its the last full month before summer so Im pretty excited about that. Were getting ready to start our research paper in English soon and it shouldn't be as bad for me as it was in English 2. The paper is a lot shorter and over just one topic so I am looking forward to going more in depth on this subject. Last night was a pretty cool night with some great friends. My girlfriend, cousin and I got to go play some putt putt in Nixa followed by stuffing my face at Andys. I just cannot resist their Stolen Brownie Sunday. Following the little outside time we headed back to my cousin's house for a game night which turned out to be really fun. I enjoyed playing Scattegories and some Scrabble. This was my first time playing Scrabble so it was pretty rough in the beginning. I turned out to not be so bad and just barely lost. All in all it was a really great night.

It has been a really good week at school. I have been to all my classes and am ready for the weekend to get here! This is going to be a crazy busy weekend with a lot going on but I am ready to get out and have some fun. Friday night is a good friend's wedding and they are getting married at James River Assembly in Ozark, MO. I am excited to get dressed up and wear the new shirt, tie, and vest that I purchased this weekend. It is going to be a really big wedding with a lot of people but I happy for Jon and ready to have a blast there. Then on Saturday, Tess and I have another day full of events. That afternoon we are going to visit her Grandma for lunch with her brother. Then later on that night we have my uncle's birthday party to get back to Springfield for. To cap off the weekend we will be going to church on Sunday morning and then working together Sunday night! This is going to be a tiring but really exciting weekend and I cannot wait for it to get started!

It has been a pretty awesome weekend and the week has gotten off to a good start. I headed to Marshfield on Friday and got to spend the whole night hanging out with my girlfriend's family there. We had a really good time and it was a relaxing night where I didn't have to worry about anything. Then on Saturday we babysat my three little nephews who were quite the handful. They are so fun to be around and they are really comical. It can also be a pretty tiring time too because you constantly have to be watching out for them and making sure they are not into stuff. Sunday was another good day because I got to see my family and get together for the middle nephew's birthday party. This was a really fun time and I got to see some family that I hadn't seen in awhile. Life is just all around amazing and I wouldn't change a thing about it. It is going to be a busy couple months with spring break just around the corner and on top of that in April I will be a concert fanatic. I will start the month off by heading to the Wiz Khalifa concert at Missouri State which I am really excited for. Then in mid-March im going to St. Louis to see Florence and the Machine at the Peabody Opera House. Finally rounding off the month I will get to see J. Cole at Drury.

Sensory Blog
As my favorite new music began playing in my head, I could not help but smell the fresh food being cooked from my bed.
Putting on chapstick to fix my dry lips, I could hear my dog barking at a squirrel doing back flips.
I grabbed my basketball as my alarm began to chime, and headed out the front door to confront the summetime.
Reaching the basketball court there were many people that I would know, laughing there with family so thankful there was no snow.
I would shoot baskets for nearly a hour, drinking flavored water that I hoped would not be to sour.
My nephews were running around without anyone there to see, and the smell of fresh cut grass bringing everyone such glee.
After the game was over i would have to drive my car, to my house to clean up I was glad it wasn't far.
After a fresh shower it was time to head to the grocery shop, for ocean water, chinese food, and fried chicken with gravy on top.
After loading the groceries I listened as the car wouldn't not start, I began breathing quicker the taste in my mouth became quite tart.
A classmate gave me a jump start which was really kind, so I zoomed down the road with the air freshener rocking and a new guitar on my mind.
When i was home I grabbed some night time clothes, before typing on the keyboard for a hour something I really loathe.
Followed by a little mouthwash and laying down on a clean sheet, I remembered this day and realized it was quite the treat.

Last night my girlfriend and I celebrated Valentines day because we both had to work on Tuesday. This actually turned out really really well because the restraunt was not nearly as crowded and we got to really have some good conversation. Afterwards I suprised her with something that she has been wanting to do for a really long time and I hope it really made her night. It was really cool getting to set it all up for her and then experience it with her because I know how much it meant to her that I put the time into it. Another really cool thing that I found out recently was that J Cole ( one of my favorite rap artists) is coming to Springfield and will be performing at the O Reilly Family Center at Drury. It is a really good deal because my girlfriend goes to school there and will be able to get us advanced tickets. This is something that I am really excited about because he is an artist that I can really relate to with his songs and what he is trying to get across. It is going to be a four day weekend at old OTC and it is a break I really needed! Im going to use it as a chance to catch up and just relax.

This week is starting off really good. The weather is amazing and it's crazy that the temperature is already 60 degrees at 8 in the morning. Having some warm weather and keeping up with school are making my week go a lot better. I got the chance this weekend to try ice skating for the first time. Without the girlfriend i probably would have fallen multiple times but with her help i stayed up the entire night. It was really fun but hard to do on a full stomach! This week should be pretty mild when it comes to school work and errands to do. This is nice because it will give me a chance i desperately needed to catch up on things going on around the house. The super bowl is this weekend and I can say without a doubt that I am rooting for the Patriots to win. I just can't stand the Manning brothers or the Giants head coach. One thing that I would like to do soon is find a good book that I can get into. I really enjoy classics or books that have a old time feel to them. Reading is something that I really need to get into more. Another good part of this week is that tomorrow is Wednesday which means I get to go to church. This is something that I have recently got back into full time and it is such a great feeling. Getting to share it with my girlfriend has been a life changing experience that means the world to me and I know we will carry it with us for the rest of our lives.

This semester of college is going to go really well and I have a great feeling about how it is starting off. I have a math class that is going to challenge me but I know i can make it through. I'm also taking a Comp. Applications class as well as a American Government class. The best part of my schedule though is the fact that I have English 1 with Prof. Neuburger again. Im excited about this because I really enjoy his teaching style and how he incorporates computers and technology into his daily classroom activities. This is something that I like a lot and interests me. It should be a fun class that lets me be creative and gives me some new ideas on how to use technology in a writing format. I am also pretty excited for church tomorrow night and dinner with friends beforehand. I can honestly say that I am really enjoying James River and the style of ministry they bring to a younger crowd. It has me at a spiritual level that makes dealing with normal everyday life a lot easier. For a final note I am exhausted from playing basketball with some friends until 11:15 last night! I feel a nap coming on very quickly!

WWII changed many things for the Jewish people including the birth name of Joseph Morton. Born Joseph Markowitz in Lodz, Poland, Joseph wanted to leave behind any trace or reminder of the war. Joseph’s story like many other Jew’s was one of growing up in a smaller town in Europe and doing many ordinary things as a child. Joseph had five brothers and one sister, a father working as a tailor, and a stay at home mother. Joseph like many others had suffered small instances of anti-Semitism early on and even heard little bits of Hitler’s rise to power. He never knew how bad it would truly get. “One ear in, the other one out,” is a quote from Joseph when he describes hearing about Hitler’s rise. It was true that many Jews never knew how bad it would get and simply brushed off the news about the Nazis. Joseph’s town was one of the earliest towns in Poland to be occupied, with the war starting on a Wednesday and the Germans invading their town two days later on Friday. Things got bad quickly for Joseph and the Jews in Lodz. They were put to work early as kids cleaning floors and shortly after the occupation a ghetto was established. Life in the ghetto was miserable as one would imagine with starvation rampant. Jews were killed and hung in the market to give a warning to others that their invaders were serious. School was cancelled and wire walls were built to keep them in. This was paradise in fact for Joseph though; he had no idea of what his future would hold. Auschwitz did not exist in his world but it would soon become a reality. “We would kill ourselves before getting to the place,” is what Joseph had to say about his time right before Auschwitz if he would have known how bad it would become. Like many others after him Joseph was loaded onto a cattle car with around fifty other Jews and shipped to Auschwitz. He went through selection like many others and this would be the last time he would see his mother and most siblings. Joseph, his father, and one brother were chosen as acceptable to work and the rest of his family he would never see again as they were taken to their deaths by gas or furnace. Auschwitz was a short stay for Joseph as he was shipped to a German work camp Darkow. He was in good physical shape and could work which allowed him to stay alive. Near the end of his stay he fell ill with typhus and luckily for him the camp was liberated shortly after. Joseph said that if he would have had to go a few more days he would not be here today. Joseph’s experience not only shook his faith in people but his faith in God also. His faith has never gotten back to how it was before the war and probably never will. He moved to the U.S. where he works as a barber and enjoys his life with his wife and 3 kids.

Alfred Caro’s story starts like many other stories for Jews in the 1930’s. He was born in what started as Sampter, Poland but would soon be under German rule and considered part of Germany. Born to a tight knit family of 6 kids, Alfred’s father was a butcher and his mother was a stay at home mom. Unlike most Jews, Alfred led a really good life growing up and never experienced much anti-Semitism. He lived a typical teenage life going to dances playing sports, his favorite being boxing, and going to school. As far as religion went their family was conservative and believed but really only celebrated on the major Jewish holidays. The good life would quickly change however for Alfred in 1933 as the Reistacht was burned by the Nazis and Hitler’s rise to power would begin. Alfred and his family like many Jewish families had no idea of how bad things would truly get. Shortly after Alfred’s father would lose his business and the Nuremberg laws would be instated. Caro would hear of things getting worse for Jews like them being arrested and beaten around this time but not too much attention was paid to it. Shortly after however in his home town Alfred would be arrested and sent to the Zachzenhausen work camp. “So I was perplexed,” is how Alfred would describe being snatched up and taken here. Like many others he felt he had done nothing wrong and was wondering why the Germans were forcing him here. His time in the camp would go from bad to worse quickly. Like many other German work camps starvation was rampant and Alfred would describe the living conditions as horrible. Alfred said that you might get a piece of bread a day with some water, you would sleep on the floor, and the bathrooms or lack thereof were unsanitary. The fence surrounding the camp was used as a boundary and any Jew getting close to it was shot on spot. Alfred would describe the German guards as trained murderers. “Who was friend, who was enemy,” is how Caro would talk about the people inside the camp. With Germans and Jews fighting for survival one would have to watch their back in the camp. Alfred unlike many Jews was lucky though and only in the camp for six weeks. He was released and quickly went to Belgium. Unfortunately for Alfred he had to leave his family and this would be the last time he would see many of them again. He was forced to France shortly after on the run from the Germans and eventually would end up in Columbia, South America where he found a job working for a gold company. Unlike some Alfred kept his conservative faith throughout his life and would attend synagogue during major holidays. He moved to N.Y. City and was married with kids. Sadly for Alfred though he would never receive any news from his family.
